The Alexandria Link: A Book Review

Thursday, August 31, 2023

The Alexandria Link is a 500-page thriller about a retired government agent being manipulated into finding an original copy of the Torah. This Bible 1.0 is being sought after (rather violently, but, hey, so was the Old Testament) not for religious reasons, but for political. It is believed by many that the original Hebrew (versus modern Hebrew) would show that Islamic Arabia, rather than Israel, was the actual homeland of the Jewish people.

As you can imagine, exposing that the land "God gave Abraham" has Mecca in the middle would create some turmoil. An evil cabal, known as the Order of the Golden Fleece, run by a Klaus Schwab kind of maniac, wants to profit from a full scale war between Muslims and Jews, and, if lucky, some Christians too.

The writing (or rewriting) was polished, though, at times felt too clean. The characters were real enough, but I can't say I'd want to spend time with any of them. The story had some surprising cop outs (where the Secret Service literally drops out of the sky, guns blazing), but Berry otherwise made up for it with a complex plot, neat twists and the Biblical intrigue. If you like thrillers, history and conspiracies, then you'll probably enjoy The Alexandria Link. Available from your local bookstore or online.
