“Sir, could you please put on a mask?”
“Sorry, I don’t believe in voodoo.”
That’s my new line when asked to wear a mask. After all, there are religious exemptions! Nothing against voodooists, but I just don’t believe in fending off invisible enemies with facial coverings. Maybe if the government mandated truly artistic voodoo masks like this one I might give it a try.
Otherwise, I see it as immoral to encourage a false sense of protection against a non-existent pandemic using a harmful germ collector.
In a forthcoming flyer, I pack two-pages with 18 bullets presenting evidence that masks are unsafe, ineffective and immoral. One of the bullets, citing the immorality of mandatory masking, says:
- Reckless: “By making mask-wearing recommendations and policies for the general public, or by expressly condoning the practice, governments have both ignored the scientific evidence and done the opposite of following the precautionary principle,” writes physicist Denis Rancourt, PhD in his 2020 paper Masks Don’t Work.15
The handout should be ready soon. Until then I’m still distributing this flyer to combat the second wave of corona disinformation.
