Tyrtaeus:
'People who live in fear are miserable'

Wednesday, June 29, 2022

In a new review of Much Ado About Corona, Sean Arthur Joyce compares the novel's theme to these words, by the Spartan poet Tyrtaeus:

"[Courage is] mankind’s finest possession [because it] enables us to do the right thing, to face danger, and to enjoy life. People who live in fear are miserable."

Facing danger may not sound too attractive. But enjoying life? Who would turn that down? Indeed, opposing the COVID genocide has made for the most frightening and enjoyable years of my entire life.

For a deep dive into the philosophical undercurrent of my novel, please read Sean's full literary review, Covid-19’s First Great Dystopian Love Story.
