When in doubt, blame a bureaucrat

Blazing Reader,

Blazing Reader, Steve Van Ness, wrote in response to my post about the assassination attempt on bullet-dodging Trump:

"I had the same thoughts and questions after watching the assassination attempt. Your point number 4 is something I have been wondering about a lot over the weekend. I don’t believe it’s faked which leads to two possible scenarios: was this an attempted coup by the deep state and the secret service and police allowed it to happen or was it a result of an incredibly incompetent security team?"

A retired RCMP officer (who helped me write Much Ado About Corona) has worked with the Secret Service on numerous occasions. He told me they're "a top-notch agency with a well-earned reputation" and that he does "not doubt the performance or integrity of members of the Secret Service."

He also pointed out that "politicians the world over routinely deviate from security advice." So, when in doubt, blame a bureaucrat.
