The Libertarian Futurist Society just dropped an article with Dave Freer sharing "the one way you can future-proof your kids."

Dave Freer is the author of Cloud-Castles, the winner of the 2023 Prometheus Award for Best Novel. His new novel, Storm-Dragon has been nominated (along with mine and eight others) for the 2026 award. 

Freer wrote Storm-Dragon “with the intent of getting more boys reading and enjoying reading." He believes reading "is the one way you can future-proof your kids, because it is the one thing that will make them flexible enough to cope with whatever the future throws. It will give them advantages in learning – far more than schooling will."

He goes on to explain why boys need more encouragement to read than girls and warns of the serious emotional and societal consequences of living in a world where men don't read fiction.
