Last week I quoted Alan Moore, describing how writing the script for a comic book often leaves him "a blubbering mess."

So why does he put himself through such humiliating hardship?

I'll let the British comic book legend tell you himself. Here's a one-minute video in which Moore explains why fiction writers aren't "entertainers for hire" but rather carry an age-old tradition of "modifying the reality and consciousness of the entire species."
