Freedom Party of Ontario president has
"absolutely nothing positive to say"
about the United Freedom Party of Alberta

Well, this was unexpected...

In last Friday's post, I referenced an interview with the founders of the United Freedom Party of Alberta, where they gave their definition of freedom. I sent a copy of the post to Bob Metz, president of the Freedom Party of Ontario, expecting he'd be delighted.

Well, Bob sounds about as delighted as a Donald Trump mugshot.

He wrote me back the following:

"Regrettably, I could not agree with any premises or proposals put forth by the organizers of the [United Freedom Party of Alberta], nor could I agree with their definition of freedom as 'The ability to act as you choose as long as you do no harm to others or to the environment.' While I understand the intended sentiment behind this statement, this is not what freedom is."

Keep in mind, Bob Metz has been the founding president of the Freedom Party of Ontario since the Orwellian year of 1984. He's spent more time contemplating freedom than any other person I know.

He further explained: "I recorded an audio track of the entire interview [with the founders of the United Freedom Party of Alberta]. I think it will serve as a perfect exhibit of how NOT to promote individual freedom, and [is] reminiscent of my own mistakes made back in my Libertarian daze in the 1970s."

Well, Bob, a "Libertarian daze" is far better than what many people were inhaling in the 70s.

Bob went on to tell me that in this week's episode of his podcast, Just Right, he'll be providing "a proper definition of freedom." He'll also include audio clips from the United Freedom Party of Alberta interview and explain why he disagrees with everything they said.

"Be forewarned," Bob told me, "I have absolutely nothing positive to say about the [United Freedom Party of Alberta] or its organizers."
